Prysma’s History: Helping Families Achieve Homeownership
My name is Monica Serva and I started Prysma Lending Group in 2003 to assist individuals
living in the Danbury area.
For several years before starting Prysma, I worked as a mortgage professional in the state of Florida where I helped several clients obtain FHA and conventional loans. In the process of helping people gain homeownership, I also learned an immense amount about the mortgage industry and I became frustrated when I realized how underserved minorities are by lenders and banks. I also saw a tremendous amount of companies treating their clientele poorly. All of these different factors lead me to start Prysma Lending Group – to not only work in the interest of my clients but serve anyone, no matter their color or ethnicity.

Expanding Our Territory to Serve More States
Prysma was initially licensed as a correspondent mortgage lender in Connecticut and Florida, but quickly received the backing of several investors and the approval by the Housing Urban Department (HUD). The response from our clients was remarkable and Prysma grew quickly.
In 2005 we were approved under HUD’s Direct Endorsement Lender program, and thereafter started our Corresponding Division. From that point on, we’ve been striving to help as many families as we can achieve the dream of homeownership. In order to expand our reach, we also continued to grow our company and went on to obtain our mortgage lender license in Massachusetts and Florida as well as our mortgage broker registration in New York.
My husband, Luiz, an IT specialist with a degree in Business Management and former IT Director with over fifteen years of global IT experience with a leading semi-conductor corporation, joined Prysma to oversee our information technology, accounting, compliance and marketing activities.
Always Doing Right By Our Clients
Even during the financial meltdown of 2008/2009, our company continued to grow. We believe this growth was based on our philosophy of always doing right by our clients—meaning that we will always find the right mortgage for each kind of borrower and ensure that families can afford their mortgages as well as remain in their homes.
Today, we are comprised of a team of mortgage professionals who speak Portuguese, Spanish, and are dedicated to helping families buy their dream home. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, we are able to expedite the mortgage application process. And as a leader in FHA loans, we have twenty-four hour decision making ability and we can close a FHA loan in ten business days. The only exception comes from our New York transactions, which are conducted through third party lenders. You should also be aware that all of our loans are underwritten in-house.
